Initiative on Violent Crime

When Attorney General Steve Marshall took office, violent crime in Alabama was at its highest level in decades. On January 24, 2018, Attorney General Marshall launched a new initiative—the Initiative on Violent Crime—to put an end to this upward trend in violence. The effects are already being seen: Over the past twelve months, violent crime has dropped 15% in Montgomery alone.

Criminals . . . should be on notice: We will not tolerate this
menace to our citizens . . . . We will help cities reclaim their
streets, restore the rule of law, and, ultimately, see their
communities revived.
